R.Oswald Adler

A typical example of a 'Meyer type' flute. Robert Oswald Adler (1865-1946) founded his own company in 1891 where he also sold instruments by other makers. The flutes he made himself were marketed under his own brand name 'ROA'. His son Johannes Adler (1899 - 1963) started his own company in Markneukirchen in 1924 and specialized in recorders. Roberts Oswalds grandson Gottfried Meinert and his great-grandson Frank Meinert still have a workshop in Markneukirchen (Klingenthaler Str. 20). (info: thanks to V. Schindler of the Moennig-Adler company) The instrument is in great condition and has a B-foot and high D-triller. The head is silverplated and has a lipplate made from bakelite.
